Project #0008, Help Raise Money to Help Battered Women, Part I
The Asian-Pacific Women's Center is a wonderful agency (and a Big Sunday favorite) that assists victims of domestic violence in all kinds of important ways. Last year they were given new, additional, roomy office space in Alhambra - and we were happy to send volunteers on Big Sunday to clean and paint it. This year they are planning a day full of events at this site to help raise money to host a fantastic Mother's Day dinner for their clients. Here's what they are planning, and what they need volunteers for: 1) a car wash, 2) a bake sale, and 3) a yard sale. For the bake sale, volunteers are asked to bring tasty-looking items from supermarkets and bakeries. (We'd love to include home-baked items, but the health department won't let us.) For the yard sale, APWC would especially appreciate home appliances in working condition. The APWC have dedicated this event as a celebration to honor the beauty of the women in their program. This part of the day includes set up and selling. See Part II (# 041) for selling and clean-up. Alhambra
